Philips Lumileds Introduces New, Improved SnapLED for Automotive Lighting Applications

Philips Lumileds has made critical changes to the SnapLED, which is frequently used for signaling applications in the automotive industry.

The company has increased the efficiency and reliability of the SnapLED by incorporating a new feature called the Multi-Environment Over Stress Test (MEOST) regimen. Significant changes on the SnapLED ensure simplification of design and meet important regulatory requirements. Engineers have redeveloped the SnapLED by increasing the limit of junction temperature and narrowing the color binning levels.

The highest junction temperature in the SnapLED has been elevated to 135°C. Users can enjoy the benefits of high reliability, performance, and flexibility in design for developing new lighting solutions using the SnapLED.

The SnapLED is designed to operate in both stop and tail-mode and over a dynamic current range of 30:1. It features dual binning for users to exercise control over the entire range and deliver uniformity in flux ratios across various current levels. This high power LED eliminates the need of checking LEDs before assembly.
